Feeling Down

I normally don't talk about how I am feeling.

I grew up "just getting on with things" and all my married life has been like that.

These last two weeks I have felt very out of sorts, I could cry at the drop of a hat, in fact I had a complete wobbly last week and sobbed and sobbed.

I am letting everything get on top of me. Things that I would normally just work through - make my lists and get them done.

This week is difficult.

I am sat here, in the office, listening to music - that is helping, but I have tears in my eyes -- WHY???

I am healthy, I am happy, I have a husband who loves me, I have a good job and I DO love my life.

I would like to lose some weight but that's about it.

I am assuming that it must be my hormones - age - the big 50 next week.

Anyone got any pick up tricks to help me shake off this general grump?

I think its that time of the year when we're all heading kicking and screaming into the dark days of winter. My post yesterday was one long moan about how I'm feeling too.
I searching for some cheap and cheerful ways to brighten my life!!! Let's share our ideas!
Love Kathy xxx

Me too! Ive been very tearful and worrying about my daughter (and arguing with her too! I saw a great article in the Mail on Sunday Magazine this week - apparantly this condition is normal - as is waking up between 3am-5pm filled with (unfounded) terror - which I also do! You are completely normal to the rest of us 50 something ladies - let it all out, and look at how you can start being good to yourself. xxxxxx

I think Kathy is right, it's a miserable, dark time of the year. Shopping (charity, of course) and a jam doughnut with a cup of tea should help. Chin up - and embrace your 50th birthday. Happy impending birthday!

Me again! I suspect you can't get jam doughnuts in France - something sweet and French then!

did I mention I tell jokes too!
Seriously though, my sister Victoria, who happens to be very wise, tells me tears are cleansing...so go ahead, let it go.
And when you are done...watch this:

Hello I wanted to give you a virtual hug - I wear the most ridiculus socks to make me feel better - might help, might not - but it does give me a giggle to think of my very silly toes and legs. Its a hard time of year - agreeing with alot thats been said on here - take care of yourself. xxx

A good walk often helped me............xx

Thank you all so much for your kind comments. It's really nice to know I am not on my own. I did feel a big foolish and self conscious writing this post, but it seems I'm not the only one feeling this way.
Thanks for all your ideas - I will take a walk, maybe in the dark tonight, I'm not sure I could get away with wearing funny socks to work - but why not, We can get doughnuts here but my preferred vice is fruit and nut chocolate from Lidl.
Jacqueline, thanks for the link. I have seen some of it on the tele but altogether it's excellent
Thanks

I echo what everyone else has said ... sounds like a right old mix of hormones playing tricks with you and the time of year. Getting on with it is what we seem to do and we are so busy looking after everyone else we forget about ourselves. You are not alone so please don't worry about offloading here x

Firstly, (((big hugs))) Sue. Great therapy to express your thoughts and feelings on your blog, as you can see the blogging world is full of so many wonderful people♥ I've really struggled the past 5 years with menopause and I believe I am finally turning a corner at present. Be kind and gentle to yourself and put yourself first sometimes. Set aside some time each day even if it's only 10 mins for Suexxx Special thoughts♥ Linda xxx

Oh Bless you. There is NOTHING wrong with you ! Hormones / dark weather - it's happening all over Blogland !
I was like this strangely enough in August & my Bloggie friends were so supportive - so am here for you too.
I also went to the Drs & ended up giggling about feeling so low ! ( he must think I am a nutter ) It provoked many posts about nut pills - pills for nuts & for a few weeks I signed myself as " Squirell "
I came out ... " I am a Squirrell and proud! " It was such a giggle & shifted my mood. So you so you see, no one minds you off loading here.

I'm two & a bit years off fifty & I'm going to have a party. Hubby will be 50 in the same year so we could have a 1963 theme !

Go easy on yourself & just accept that this is a blip & you WILL feel better. Crying is a good release so cry all you like !

I had a big party for my 40th, and I did not feel like doing one this year, maybe something small later next year

And what is wrong with having a good sob every now and then? Relax and let it out. The winter is coming, but so is spring. 50 is only a number, not and end of anything. If you have to think of a number, think of 51, the start of a new and exciting time in your life.
Hugs too

I suffer with "down" times too. The advantage of being older though, is that, no matter how bad we feel - we're well aware that all things pass eventually. Virtual hugs SueXX

John, your comment made me laugh. I said to MOH that I would like a dog for my birthday and I have been looking this afternoon on internet.
Can't do the last suggestion - stopped drinking about 5 years ago!!
Have one for me instead
